State-of-the-art terminals

State-of-the-art terminals
  • Our two advanced container terminals offer round-the-clock vessel service. All day. Every day.
  • Combined with CN's on-dock, double-stack rail service - offering service to inland terminals and efficient delivery to Chicago - routing Midwest-bound cargo through Halifax is the most efficient, most economical choice.

Investment pays off

Investment pays off
  • Investment in the port's terminals and equipment makes Halifax one of the few ports in North America that is capable of handling fully loaded post-Panamax vessels.
  • The 72-acre (29 hectare) South End Container Terminal, operated by Halterm Limited, can accommodate three fourth-generation container ships simultaneously, employing six ship-to-shore gantry cranes and nine yard gantries. It boasts a storage capacity of 12,500 TEUs and is equipped with a 30,000-square-foot (2,780-square-metre) consolidation facility.
  • The 60-acre (27.9 hectare) Fairview Cove Container Terminal, operated by Cerescorp Company, provides on-site storage for 9,000 TEUs along the shores of the Bedford Basin. With its six gantry cranes and five yard gantries, Fairview Cove can readily handle two fourth-generation container vessels - simultaneously.
