Suez Canal

The Port of Halifax, located on Canada's eastern seaboard, is known for being the first gateway to the markets of North America's heartland. Via the Suez Canal, Halifax is 1,840 nautical miles closer to India than any ports on North America's west coast. Also known for its deep, wide, ice-free harbour, Halifax is one of the few eastern seaboard ports able to accommodate post-Panamax ships. The Port of Halifax is the first inbound North American port for trade with India via the Suez Canal.

In June 2006, the Port of Halifax signed a memorandum of agreement with Jeena & Company which is India's oldest freight forwarding corporation, established in 1900. Today, a century later, they are known all across the globe for their professional services. Sachin Singh, Business Development Manager for India, will work in partnership with the Port of Halifax to build awareness and business relationships in India. For more information about Jeena & Company, visit their website at www.jeena.com. To reach Sachin Singh, telephone 91-11-41500821.
