Eimskip announces feeder service between Halifax and New England

Halifax, NS – Eimskip is pleased to announce it will initiate a direct feeder service between the ports of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Boston, Massachusetts, Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Portland, Maine in July 2007.

This fixed weekly scheduled service will offer an all water service connection between New England ports and Eastern Canada. This new service called the New England Canada Express Short Sea Service (NECA Express) will begin the first week of July 2007. The M/V Seaboard Navigator, a 384 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) capacity vessel will be used for the service. This fully cellular geared container vessel is equipped to carry up to 60 refrigerated containers.

“We are pleased to add this new service to our network of short sea shipping operations. This service will allow our customers to reach markets in the Northeastern US quickly and easily” said Russell Herder, Managing Director, Eimskip Canada Inc.

“This is an important service for exporters and importers in the New England market and in Atlantic Canada. This all water service will allow exporters and importers in both areas the opportunity to ship goods to more markets, faster” said Paul MacIsaac, Senior Vice President, Halifax Port Authority.

The vessel will operate on a weekly, fixed-day service with the following rotation:

Monday: P.W. Conley Terminal, Boston

Tuesday: Port of New Hampshire, Portsmouth

Wednesday: International Mariner Terminal, Portland

Thursday: Fairview Cove Container Terminal, Halifax, Nova Scotia

Friday: Southend Container Terminal, Halifax, Nova Scotia
