Halterm announces new three-year deal with Eimskip Americas

October 24, 2006

Halifax, NS (October 24, 2006) - This is an established service consisting of two vessels each of which is on a bi-weekly sailing schedule. The service presently calls the Port of Shelburne, nova Scotia, and will switch its operations to the Port of Halifax and Halterm in November. It is estimated that this new service will result in additional volume of 4,000-5,000 containers in its first year of operation at Halterm, with potential for further growth.

"We are pleased to welcome Eimskip to the Port of Halifax and to our facility at Halterm" said Doug Rose, President and CEO of Halterm Limited. "Eimskip has been in business since 1914, and is a highly regarded Carrier in the Norht Atlantic trade. They have ambitious plans for growth in their shipping and refrigerated cargo business. We look forward to the business expansion opportunities that will be created by Eimskip's strategic alliances with other carriers and shippers in the Port of Halifax."

Halterm earlier announced the addition of China Shipping's new AMAX (Asia, Mediterranean, America Express) service, which commenced operations in October, 2005; Maersk Line's new MECL 2 service, which commenced operations in May, 2006; and the new Europe West Indies Lines (EWL) service between North Europe, Halifax, the Caribbean and South America, which commenced operations in October, 2006.

"We are very encouraged by the growth of our new business over the past year as well as growth from our existing customers, particularly Zim" said Mr. Rose. "Even with this growth, our terminal facility remains at less than 50% of its full capacity, and we continue to actively seek new business from other shipping lines considering vessel calls on the east coast of North America."
