New cargo service to the Caribbean established

Halifax, Nova Scotia (August 31, 2006) - A new connection between Halifax and Caribbean markets means new export capacity into the Caribbean plus additional European import capacity is now available via the Port of Halifax. Europe West Indies Lines is pleased to announce the commencement of a new liner service from Europe to Canada and from Canada to the Caribbean, the North Coast of South America and Central America.
E.W.L. - Europe West Indies Lines - was founded in 1985 and is a member of Wethold International B.V.. With its head offices based in Rotterdam, Wethold International is the holding company for a group of companies engaged in shipping and transport.
In addition to offering Canadian and U.S. exporters the most comprehensive and transit sensitive service available to the Caribbean basin, E.W.L will also be offering importers of cargo from Europe a new service into their North American markets.
Operating a fleet of 5 Vessels for this service, E.W.L. have nominated Halifax, Nova Scotia, as their North American port of call for both import and export cargo. Prior ports being called in Europe are Rotterdam, Hamburg, Felixstowe, and Bilbao.
Direct ports of call after sailing Halifax are Philipsburg, Port of Spain, La Guaira, Pto Cabello, Willemstad, Cartagena, Pto Cortes and Santo Tomas de Castilla.
E.W.L. services from each of these ports will allow E.W.L. to offer some of the fastest transit times available, into over 48 different ports of call including ports in; Suriname, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Barbados, the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, the Leeward and Windward Islands. Guyana, Aruba, Netherlands Antilles, Colombia, Central America as well as Venezuelan outports.
Commencing with a sailing frequency of every 8 to 9 days from Halifax, E.W.L will be converting this service to fixed day, weekly departures, in January 2007, after scheduled deployment of additional tonnage.
E.W.L. will be offering importers and exporters all types of equipment including 20' and 40' dry vans, open tops, high cubes, flat racks and reefers. Shippers of project and over-dimensional cargoes will also find their needs well serviced.
