President of CN to Deliver Keynote Address at Halifax Port Days

Halifax, Nova Scotia (August 10, 2006) - E. Hunter Harrison, President and Chief Executive Officer of CN, will deliver the keynote address at this year's Halifax Port Days on Friday, September 15, 2006.
A veteran railroader, Mr. Harrison has held a succession of senior management positions at major North American railroads. He developed the concept of scheduled service for rail freight shipments and implemented an aggressive operating plan at CN, producing the rail industry's best operating ratio and on-time performance.
Mr. Harrison will speak about the importance of the partnership between CN and Halifax, as well as CN's vital links between the Port of Halifax and markets throughout North America.
He is a member of the North American Competitiveness Council, whose mandate is to provide governments with recommendations on broad policy issues such as border facilitation and regulation, as well as the competitiveness of key sectors of the economy, including automotive, transportation, manufacturing and services.
Mr. Harrison is also a member of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives and was named North America's Railroader of the Year by Railway Age magazine in 2002.
The Halifax Port Authority is a government business enterprise mandated by the Federal Ministry of Transport. The HPA leads in the development of the Port of Halifax, serving as a catalyst for the local, regional and national economies and has a mandate to be financially viable.
