Halifax Port Authority Announces Appointment

Halifax, NS - The Halifax Port Authority is pleased to announce the appointment of George Malec to the position of Vice President, Operations and Security. He will oversee vessel and cargo activities, engineering, maintenance, security and environmental management at the Port of Halifax.

Malec has extensive experience in port management activities encompassing both the public and private sectors. He holds a combined honours degree from York University and a masters degree in marine management from Dalhousie University. Malec is the current chair of the Port of Halifax Security Committee and is an active member of the Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) Operations Committee, the ACPA Environment Committee and the Association of American Port Authorities (AAPA) Operations Committee. Malec was previously Assistant Harbour Master at the Halifax Port Authority for 15 years.
