Mark MacDonald, Q.C.
Chair
Mark MacDonald was first appointed to the Halifax Port Authority's Board of Directors in 2005, and reappointed in March 2009. He was elected by the Board to his second term as Chair in August 2009. He also chairs the Governance Committee and serves as a member of the Gateway Strategy Committee and the Security, Environment & Safety Committee.
Mr. MacDonald has been President & CEO of Bay Ferries Limited, Northumberland Ferries Limited and associated companies since 2003.
Mark studied engineering and law at Dalhousie University. Prior to his present position, he practiced law at Stewart McKelvey Stirling Scales, where his practice concentrated on shipping and transportation, energy and construction. He was involved in a number of east coast projects including Cohasset, Sable Offshore Energy, Confederation Bridge, Hibernia and Nova Scotia's Cobequid Pass.
Mr. MacDonald was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1998 and was a member of the firm's partnership board. Mark's community involvement included serving as Chair of the Board of the Sacred Heart School of Halifax between 2000 and 2003.
D. Geoffrey Machum, Q.C.
Vice-Chair
Geoff Machum was first appointed a director of the Halifax Port Authority in 2006, and reappointed in 2009. He was elected by the Board to a second term as Vice-Chair in October 2009. He currently sits on the Governance, Seaport, Human Resources & Compensation and Gateway Strategy Committees.
Geoff is a partner with the law firm Stewart McKelvey, where he serves on the firm's regional Partnership Board. His law practice is diverse with particular emphasis on the fields of construction, insurance, product liability and commercial litigation, including directors and officers liability issues. He was awarded the prestigious Queen's Counsel designation in 2003, recognizing his professional integrity and outstanding contributions to the law profession.
Geoff is married to Kim (Sanford) and he has three boys, Andrew, Matthew and Maxwell. He maintains an active involvement in the Halifax Community,
including as a member of the Board of Directors of Symphony Nova Scotia, the Corporate Leadership Team of the Halifax United Way Campaign and the Board of Governors of the Halifax Grammar School.

Trevor Johnson
Director
Trevor V. Johnson was initially appointed to the position of director in August 2007 by the Province of Nova Scotia, and subsequently reappointed for a second three-year term. Trevor currently serves on the Governance Committee and chairs the Human Resources & Compensation Committee.
Trevor is a graduate of Saint Mary's University and Dalhousie Law School. He previously worked as in-house legal counsel for Marine Atlantic Inc. His law practice, Maritime Law Company Inc., emphasizes admiralty, corporate/commercial, civil litigation and regulatory law for select national and international marine interests. His ongoing community involvement has included positions with the Nova Scotia Association of Police Boards, the HRM Board of Police Commissioners, and the Children’s Safety Village.
Trevor is also a member of the Canadian Ferry Operators’ Association.
David L. Henderson
Director
David Henderson was first appointed to the Halifax Port Authority Board of Directors in October, 2007 and was subsequently reappointed for a second three-year term. He currently chairs the Security, Environment & Safety Committee and serves on the Audit Committee.
Mr. Henderson is a highly successful sales professional with over 36 years of experience. He has held positions of responsibility as a sales representative and account manager for the Atlantic region for two leading international manufacturing companies. He is currently the Atlantic Territory Account Manager for Samsung Electronics Canada Inc.
Mr. Henderson has applied his organizational and motivational skills to community and industry organizations as well.
L. Anne Galbraith, CA, CFP
Director
L. Anne Galbraith was appointed to the Halifax Port Authority Board of Directors effective April 4, 2008 for a three-year term, and was subsequently reappointed for a second three-year term. She currently chairs the Audit Committee and serves on the Human Resources & Compensation Committee and the Seaport Committee.
Anne Galbraith earned a bachelor of commerce degree in accounting from Mount Allison University. She became a chartered accountant in 1990 and obtained her certified financial planner designation in 2000. She has worked as an accountant and auditor with a number of well-known firms, and is currently employed by Collins Barrow Nauss Hornby LLP.
Anne is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia and the Financial Planners Standards Council. She has served her community in various capacities with the Shannon Park School Advisory Council and the Canadian Diabetes Association. Anne has been actively involved in the management of recreational sport teams in the Dartmouth community.
Thomas J. McInnis
Director
Tom McInnis was first appointed to the Halifax Port Authority Board of Directors on March 1, 2008 and has subsequently been reappointed for a second term of three years. He currently sits on the Audit Committee and chairs the Gateway Strategy Committee.
A graduate of Saint Mary’s University and a lawyer by profession, Mr. McInnis served as an elected Member of the Legislative Assembly of Nova Scotia from 1978 to 1993, during which time he held a number of Cabinet portfolios including Transportation, Municipal Affairs, Education, Community Services, Economic Development, Labour, Attorney General and Deputy Premier. Both prior and subsequent to his political career, he has practiced law, most recently with the firm Weldon McInnis.
Tom McInnis is currently a member of the Greater Halifax Partnership, and President of the Sheet Harbour & Area Chamber of Commerce. His community service includes the Advisory Committee for the proposed new Sheet Harbour Nursing Home, the Economic Development Committee and numerous other committees within the Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Nova Scotia Wildlife Association, and was a founding member of the Block Parent Program. He is an honorary member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Lions International.
